As the situation around coronavirus, develops we want to make sure that our members can access the guidance they need to understand any actions or precautions they might need to take.  We’re regularly publishing and updating important guidance for the community transport sector which you can find on our main guidance page at ctauk.org/covid19-guidance/

As well as this, you can also contact the CTA advice service if you need any further information, or have any more questions. The CTA team are currently working remotely, so to ensure you speak to the right person first time, please email advice@ctauk.org to receive a call back for advice and support. Our advice service operates 10:00-4:00 Monday-Friday.

    Our weekly advice service drop-ins

To help support our members throughout this difficult time, we’re also holding an ‘Advice Service Drop-in’ on a weekly basis. This is an opportunity for you to share how you are being affected by the situation, to ask any questions you may have and to talk to other members about how they’re coping. Whilst we may not have all the answers, we will continue to seek clarity and guidance from the relevant bodies on your behalf and these conversations will inform what we’re doing at CTA to support you

For those unable to make it, we will be sharing a summary of the points that are discussed during the sessions, including any best-practice or advice from other CTA members that they share during the call.

    Last week’s call

For last week’s session, we were joined by Ben Harris, Account Executive for Endsleigh Insurance Brokers who kindly joined us as a special guest on the call while we discussed all things risk. Endsleigh Insurance are CTA’s partners for CTA Insurance, a bespoke and discounted insurance offering available to CTA members as one of our member benefits. You can find out more about CTA Insurance here.

We were thrilled to welcome more than 20 members to the Advice drop-in session this week, with a mix of regular attendees and new faces from around the UK. Everyone came prepared with questions for Ben and I think we could have easily kept chatting for much longer!

You can find the full recording of the meeting below, but some of the themes we chatted about were:

    • Ben assured us that building a great relationship with your insurer is possible!
    • If you’ve developed new activities to support your community during lockdown, make sure your insurer knows to make sure your policy reflects them.
    • You can work with your insurer to find ways to reduce costs, e.g. a change of policy if your vehicle has been declared Off the Road via a SORN notice.
    • It’s important to notify your insurer of changes you make, e.g. vehicle modifications, so it can be recorded on your policy documents.
    • You can get detailed breakdowns of insurance policies for funders, e.g. specific payments per vehicle where your policy covers a whole fleet.
    • It’s important to make sure your volunteers are protected by your Employer’s Liability cover.
    • We also discussed safely supporting passengers who use mobility aids.

Thanks so much to everyone who joined us for their thoughtful questions. As always with these drop-in sessions, members taking the time out to chat and support each other is great to see and is what makes the sessions a success.

If you would like to chat with the team at Endsleigh about your insurance needs, you can reach Ben on Ben.harris@endsleigh.co.uk or 01242 866830.
