Like so many areas of society, coronavirus has caused a significant upheaval in the way that community transport operates. Over the course of lock-down, and in the face of reduced funding and resources, we’ve seen community transport step up to give communities all over the UK the support they need to get through these difficult times.

As we start to emerge from lock-down, however, it won’t be business as usual. What does the road to recovery look like for community transport? How can the sector be best positioned to re-connect our communities to the people and places they love?

As well as this, we also want to start the conversation about what lessons this creates for the future of passenger transport and how we can build back better with a stronger role for community transport organisations in shaping and running local services.

Join us on the 17th July for an online event, where our panel, chaired by CTA Chief Executive Bill Freeman, will examine these questions and explore ways that we can recover and shape a new way forward. 

We’ll hear from Matt Rodda, MP for Reading East and Shadow Minister for Buses and Local Transport in the UK Parliament, on how national policy makers should be supporting the recovery of our transport networks, as well as John Taylor at the TAS Partnership who will reflect on the practicalities of emerging from lock-down.
