    Enhancing Community Transport in Wales

In 2017, CTA secured £1.1 million to deliver a new project that aims to build a pan-Wales demand responsive transport network.

‘Connecting Communities in Wales’ will be delivered through the Welsh Government Rural Communities – Rural Development Programme 2014 – 2020, which is funded by the Welsh Government and European Union.

Over a period of five years, the project will bring together transport providers, facilitate partnerships and bring new initiatives to life.  This project provides a unique opportunity to raise the profile of community transport and help operators realise their potential for the benefit of local communities.

Working with a wide range of stakeholders, we hope to develop innovative solutions that will enhance the transport offer for many.

    In particular, the project will:

    • Establish ‘Transport Innovation Networks’ in North and South Wales to foster collaboration and develop new transport solutions.
    • Identify local transport needs and assess the capacity of community transport providers to develop new solutions that fill gaps in current provision.
    • Deliver professional training and support to ensure the community transport sector can readily adapt to changing needs and circumstances.
