In 2017, CTA secured £1.1 million to deliver a new project that aims to build a pan-Wales demand responsive transport network.
‘Connecting Communities in Wales’ will be delivered through the Welsh Government Rural Communities – Rural Development Programme 2014 – 2020, which is funded by the Welsh Government and European Union.
Over a period of five years, the project will bring together transport providers, facilitate partnerships and bring new initiatives to life. This project provides a unique opportunity to raise the profile of community transport and help operators realise their potential for the benefit of local communities.
Working with a wide range of stakeholders, we hope to develop innovative solutions that will enhance the transport offer for many.
In particular, the project will:
Establish ‘Transport Innovation Networks’ in North and South Wales to foster collaboration and develop new transport solutions.
Identify local transport needs and assess the capacity of community transport providers to develop new solutions that fill gaps in current provision.
Deliver professional training and support to ensure the community transport sector can readily adapt to changing needs and circumstances.
