Key points

  • Before proceeding with any face-to-face delivery, learners must have passed the online theory course. Administrators and Driver Assessors can view the progress of learners at any time by accessing the LMS.
  • Administrators will receive an email notification once the learner has passed the online theory assessment or if they fail it 3 times.
  • Driver Assessors can download updated course materials on the DA Resources page of their online account.

Individual Practical Session

The exact format and timing of an Individual Practical Session will vary as it is designed to be tailored to the needs of each driver. The main objectives of this session are to:

  • Address any questions which the driver has following the online theory course.
  • Ensure that the driver is familiar with the vehicle.
  • Develop the driver’s confidence in preparation for their assessment.

The session must be conducted on a one-to-one basis and should last up to approximately 45 minutes depending on the time it takes to meet the session objectives.

Driving Assessment

The Driving Assessment remains a key aspect of MiDAS courses, as all drivers are assessed to a nationally recognised standard.

Key requirements

  • A minimum of 30 minutes of assessed driving.
  • A minimum of 1 reversing manoeuvre.
  • 10 minor faults, 3 of the same minor fault or 1 major fault results in a fail.
  • Assessment result and feedback delivered at the end.
  • Completed on a 1 to 1 basis unless extenuating circumstances.

Accessible MiDAS (if applicable)

The Accessible MiDAS course is typically delivered over half a day, with additional time required for supervised practices and assessments. Driver Assessors should continue to use the Purple Round 3 training materials.

Key requirements

  • Classroom based theory session (Driver Assessors should continue to use the Purple Round 3 Accessible PowerPoint – The new online theory course replaces the Standard Powerpoint).
  • Theory assessment (Accessible questions only – Learners will complete the Standard theory assessment as part of the online course).
  • Practical Skills Assessment which includes time allocated for demonstrations and supervised practices.
