Community Transport plays a vital role in supporting Deaf and disabled passengers to make everyday journey. Through essential door-to-door services, community transport organisations help people stay connected and involved in their communities, reducing isolation and removing barriers to participation.
For many passengers, these journeys are about far more than transport alone. They provide independence, connection, and the opportunity to stay involved in community life.
Angela’s story is one example of the difference accessible transport can make.
For many Deaf and disabled people living in rural communities, opportunities can still remain out of reach without accessible transport. Community transport services help bridge that gap, providing reliable, door-to-door journeys that enable people to stay connected, independent, and involved in everyday community life.
The purpose of this event is to build knowledge of community transport, expand understanding of community transport and discover how best to engage with community transport. This forum would be useful to you if you want to learn more about community transport or work with your local community transport better.
Speakers for this session are to be announced at a later date, and there will be a Q&A at end of the presentations.
This #VolunteersWeek (1st–7th June), we are celebrating the incredible people who give their time, energy, and compassion to support community transport services across the UK.
From volunteer drivers helping people attend vital health appointments to supporting day trips and tackling loneliness, volunteers are at the heart of community transport. Their dedication helps people stay connected, independent, and included within their communities.

A session for everyone where transport is part of what you do. Community Transport Week is here, and this year's theme, Driving Communities Forward, puts a spotlight on every person who keeps people connected, even when transport is just one part of what they do. We know how vital drivers are. We also know the real challenges that come with recruiting and retaining drivers and driver licensing in Northern Ireland, and that those challenges fall on people who are already giving so much.
Team Wales were delighted to be joined by members, stakeholders and partners at the South Wales Regional Forum held in Swansea. The aim of the forum was to bring people together to network and learn and to also enable the team in Wales to understand more about the challenges that the CT movement is facing at the moment, as well as share in the positive strides forward our operators are making.
Any Community Transport organisation or Local Authority within Suffolk and Norfolk is welcome to attend.
