Unity is strength – enhancing Community Transport through Collaboration

“Unity is strength,” commented one of the participants at a recent event in Wales that focused on the power of partnership working.

Four organisations in north Gwynedd, Partneriaeth Ogwen, Yr Orsaf, O Ddrws i Ddrws, and Y Dref Werdd, held the event to showcase their community transport (CT) services and the added value that collaboration brings.

This year’s NHS Deaf Awareness Week runs from 6th – 12th May. The aim of Deaf Awareness Week is to promote greater awareness and understanding of the challenges faced by the Deaf community, to break down the communication barriers that prevent Deaf people from fully participating in society.

Many CTA Members across the UK offer services to passengers who are deaf or hearing-impaired. One of which is Brecon Dial-A-Ride, based in Wales.

Welcome to the CTA’s Community Building Sessions

Running a Community Transport (CT) Organisation is rewarding, offering great chances to support communities and make an impact. We also know it can be isolated and challenging, especially when seeking advice or discussing issues and opportunities.

Our Advice & Support team run monthly Community Building sessions, holding virtual space to bring CT operators and CTA staff together once a month to discuss key topics for the sector.

What is the CTA Advice Service?

The Community Transport Association provides the UK’s only specialist advice and support service to groups and organisations delivering community-led transport in the UK.  We do this by directly providing support and information on a wide range of topics, such as permits and licencing regulations, driver training, and operations, and by connecting with and signposting to other relevant agencies.
