Last month, the UK Government released their national Bus Strategy ‘Bus Back Better’ setting out their plans for improving bus services in England and signifying the Government’s first step back from the deregulation of buses in 1986. The Strategy equips both national and local governments with greater powers to plan and run bus services and will introduce several key changes, including a move towards Enhanced Partnerships and franchising, changes to funding, greater support for demand-responsive transport, and new zero-emission buses.
