Connect & Learn: Engaging with your Community

About this session

We know that CT operators are always seeking to provide what their community needs, but how do you make sure you know what that looks like?

Whether you've been delivering transport for five days, 5 years or 5 decades, it's essential to have a good handle on what the needs of your community really are. This is especially important when competition for funding is fierce, and you're expected to be able to demonstrate how you've engaged with your community in designing any new service or project. As demand for inclusive travel continues to grow, operators need to have a good understanding of how they can best support their passengers, and how that support may need to change over time.

This session is designed to introduce you to some different ways in which our sector engages with our communities, from social research through to local events. We'll hear from CTA colleagues as well as operators about best practice in different parts of the UK and how it helps to shape both new and existing services. We'll also have a discussion/Q&A session to learn from others in the room, sharing expertise and getting advice from other CTA members based on real world examples.

This session replaces the Connect and Learn originally planned for this date on 'Building Social Value Partnerships' which will be rearranged.

Who should attend

This session is ideal for CTA members who are community transport operators, staff, trustees and volunteers involved in service planning and development, as well as anyone looking to better understand and respond to the needs of their local community.
