It had been a long time coming.
After more than four years of campaigning – and countless meetings, letters, budget representations, briefings and social media posts later – we watched as the Chancellor of the Exchequer rose to address the House of Commons on 21 May 2026.
This year’s CT26 Awards will be especially significant as we celebrate 40 years of Community Transport Association (CTA). Since CTA was founded in 1986, the sector has grown into a vital network of organisations, volunteers and services connecting people to healthcare, education, employment and their communities.
The upcoming CT26 Awards are an opportunity not only to recognise the incredible achievements taking place across the sector today, but also to reflect on the rich history, dedication and innovation that have shaped community transport over the years.
This #VolunteersWeek (1st–7th June), we are celebrating the incredible people who give their time, energy, and compassion to support community transport services across the UK.
From volunteer drivers helping people attend vital health appointments to supporting day trips and tackling loneliness, volunteers are at the heart of community transport. Their dedication helps people stay connected, independent, and included within their communities.

Connect and Learn – small changes means, life changing impact.
Community Transport Association were delighted to launch our new Connect and Learn sessions (previously known as Community Building Sessions) for members, with our first session on supporting people living with dementia to travel well.
The aim of these sessions is to bring together our members, the CTA team and wider partners to look at and discuss topics that are important to the way we operate, the way we support passengers and the way we enable each other to learn and share.
