Working Well with Volunteers

Volunteers have long been the lifeblood of community transport.

In this special working well session we’ll look at the current climate surrounding volunteer recruitment and retention in the sector.

We’ll feedback from our volunteer session at the Wales 24 conference and also have insights from operators and a CVC talking about what good volunteer management looks like!

There will also be an opportunity for sharing your own experiences and any challenges you’re currently facing.

Advice & Support FAQs

A helping hand with CT questions.

On this page you can find a list of some of our most frequently asked questions.

The information is provided for organisations that hire, own, or operate minibuses (9 to 16 passenger seats plus driver) or MPVs (less than 9 passenger seats) as part of their activities.

The information in the FAQs is available to everyone, but some answers may link to more in-depth information that is only accessible to members of the CTA.

Third Sector Funding Principles: CTA’s Response

Short-term funding arrangements and chronic underfunding damage many Community Transport operators and their staff, volunteers and passengers. What can we do to change this?

The Scottish Parliament’s Social Justice and Social Security Committee is conducting an inquiry into Third Sector Funding Principles as part of its pre-scrutiny of the Scottish Government’s Budget for 2025/26.

Training

CTA manage a national programme of quality-assured education and training for the CT sector and beyond, ensuring that organisations are able to deliver safe, legal and comfortable journeys.

Through our training, workshops and webinars we help our members enhance their skills and knowledge on transport services, regulatory frameworks, safety and customer service.

When listening to stories from Trustees in the sector it becomes increasingly clear that is not just a role; it's a journey rich in opportunities and personal growth. For our members at the Community Transport Association (CTA), understanding these benefits is crucial, especially for those at the helm of CT organisations.
