Empowering Women in Community Transport: Driving Change for a More Inclusive Sector
The Community Transport Association (CTA) is leading a movement to enhance the role of women in the community transport sector. Through the launch of the Women in Community Transport UK Network, CTA will be aiming to address the challenges women face in our vital industry, while promoting their invaluable contributions and driving initiatives to improve recruitment, retention, and empowerment.
Championing Women in Transport
Women have long been the backbone of the community transport sector, often bringing the qualities of care, empathy, and collaboration that are central to the success of these services. Despite this, parts of our sector has traditionally been male-dominated, with women frequently facing barriers that hinder their progress and limit their opportunities.
Recognising the need for change, CTA is pleased to be a member of the Women in Bus and Coach (WiBC) initiative which is creating a powerful network that supports women in community transport. This collaboration aims to challenge stereotypes, break down barriers, and create a more inclusive environment where women can thrive.
Fostering Diversity and Inclusion
The Women in Community Transport UK Network is more than just a group—it’s a movement dedicated to fostering diversity and inclusion across the transport sector. By bringing together women from all corners of the industry, the network provides a platform for sharing experiences, exchanging ideas, and developing strategies to overcome the challenges that women often face in this field.
One of the key focuses of the network is to ensure that the unique perspectives and strengths that women bring to community transport are recognised and valued. This includes advocating for more women in leadership roles, creating pathways for career advancement, and ensuring that women’s contributions are celebrated at all levels of the sector.
Join the Movement
The Women in Community Transport UK Network is open to all women in the sector, as well as allies who support the mission of gender equality in transport. Together, we can create a sector where women are fully empowered, their contributions are recognised, and their potential is fully realised.
