• CTA’s New Approach to MiDAS Driver Assessor Training

Thank you for your interest in becoming a CTA Approved Training Centre contracted to work with the Community Transport Association (CTA).

MiDAS is a collection of courses for assessing and training drivers and passenger assistants from voluntary organisations to provide them with the skills and knowledge to enable them to provide a safe and high-quality service to passengers as well as safeguard themselves, their organisation and their vehicles.

CTA is creating a network of Approved Training Centres across the UK. These centres, based within Community Transport Operators, will work with us to ensure MiDAS remains available to all organisations who need it across the UK and will be responsible for the organisation and delivery of induction and refresher courses for Driver Assessors.

Key responsibilities of a CTA-Approved Training Centre

As well as organisations who are passionate about passenger safety and committed to supporting MiDAS, we are looking for organisations who have:

  • A training room which can hold a minimum of four delegates
  • Experience of organising training courses including administration, advertisement, set up and issuing of certificates
  • Evidence of excellent feedback from learners who have received training through your organisation
  • An understanding of community transport including the legal framework community transport operates under
  • Access to training resources including an accessible minibus with Cant Rail, a ISO wheelchair and 4 point tie down systems.

Training Centre will also need to:

  • Keep full records of the courses delivered and effectively use CTA’s online CRM system to keep records up to date
  • Participate in strategies for monitoring and evaluating the delivery of training
  • Attend regular meetings, and events to keep up to date with new developments, share learnings and work to actively promote the standards of MiDAS
  • Hold current CTA membership.

Qualifications and experience of trainers

Training Centres would also need to employ, contract or be willing to engage with a trainer or trainers who are:

  • DVSA ADIs (or willing to work towards achieving the ADI qualification)
  • Driver Assessors with at least two years experience.
