Are you our next Trustee?

I am pleased to let you know we are now seeking nominations to join the trustee board of the Community Transport Association.

There are many ways for people from CTA’s membership to get involved in the life of the organisation and being involved in our corporate governance as a trustee is one such way. This year we have two vacancies on the Board of Trustees which are open to staff or volunteers nominated from CTA member organisations. Trustees are appointed for a four-year term and may stay on for a second four-year term with the approval of the Board of Trustees.

We are looking for people who can…

• Be a passionate and effective champion for CTA’s vision, mission and values.
• Bring the required skills and behaviours to help make board meetings focused, productive and supportive of the executive leadership team.
• Show they understand the law and good practice on charity governance.
• Reflect the range of locations and contexts in which our members work, as well as the diversity of our communities.

This year we are particularly encouraging applications from women, people from BAME communities, and from individuals who have experience of working in Wales.

The Board of Trustees is looking to the future with some confidence.  Community transport, in its many forms, has the potential to offer a more reliable and resilient way of addressing a growing number of transport needs and accessibility issues. The possibilities are immense.

These demands and expectations of community transport are very welcome. However if demand continues to grow, it must be matched with investment to put in place the services, staff, volunteers and vehicles needed to respond effectively. If you like the sound of this and have the credentials to add even more strength to our board, we look forward to hearing from you.
