Community transport works across the Christmas period, even on Christmas day, to provide those who would otherwise be alone with access to family, friendship, company and independence over the holidays and we’re collecting stories of the incredible work that our members do.

Take a look at our main Community Transport Christmas page for all our stories so far.

Residents of Newhaven often reminisce about Christmases past when the NPT Rotary Club would bring a jolly Santa round the streets on his sleigh, forming happy childhood memories and raising money for good causes.

Sadly, due to many factors, Santa has not been seen in the streets of Newhaven for over a decade, but this December CTLA Community Transport changed all that with ‘Return Of The Claus’!

Starting small, with just three nights, CTLA charity staff and volunteers hope the events will be well received and that they’ll expand even further for 2017.

Riding in a decorated Community Transport bus, accompanied by Fairytale guests, the CTLA Santa Bus toured the Newhaven Valley Estate on Monday, stopping to delight both young and old, and raising over £275 in donations for CTLA Community Transport – the charity that provides accessible transport for people unable to use public transport and supporting local groups and non-profit organisations with affordable trips.

Santa, Rudolph and Frosty with the Fairytale Princesses including the Ice Queen herself, Elsa, finished off with a Christmas sing song at the Jolly Boatman pub in Lewes Road, Newhaven. They were joined by the Mayor of Newhaven Cllr Steve Saunders, and the Young Mayor, Sophie Lewis.

Next  week the CTLA Santa Bus will be in Newhaven Town and Harbour side on Monday 19th December an in Denton and South Heighton on Wednesday 21st December with Christmas sing-songs at the Ark and the Flying Fish.
