Community transport works across the Christmas period, even on Christmas day, to provide those who would otherwise be alone with access to family, friendship, company and independence over the holidays and we’re collecting stories of the incredible work that our members do.

Take a look at our main Community Transport Christmas page for all our stories so far.

Daventry Area Community Transport (DACT) provide many transport and mobility services to the local community giving them the opportunity to get out, shop, socialise, and attend important appointments.

But what about when the weather is so bad with snow and ice on the ground making it dangerous for people to step outside their front door? Last Christmas time, with dangerous footpaths making it impossible for our Dial-a-Ride passengers to get out and get their Christmas food shopping, DACT came up with a solution to the problem. We contacted our vulnerable passengers to find out what essential shopping they needed, and then made up orders which we could obtain from a local Supermarket.A volunteer with a suitable 4 x 4 vehicle and a couple of volunteers were able to collect these essential orders from the Supermarket and then deliver them to the doors of our very grateful members.

When the going gets tough, the tough get going! DACT ‘s membership is viewed as a ‘Big Family’ and with many of these living on their own it was our privilege to support them at this difficult time.
