Building a Stronger Future Together: CTA’s Strategic Direction 2025–2030
As we look ahead to the next five years, it’s clear that the transport landscape is evolving rapidly. Across the UK, communities face growing challenges around accessibility, connectivity, and sustainability, while continuing to show incredible innovation and resilience.
At the Community Transport Association, we believe this dynamic environment calls for both responsiveness and ambition. That’s why I’m proud to share CTA’s new Strategic Direction for 2025–2030 — a plan shaped through extensive consultation with our members, staff, trustees, and partners across the UK.
Our Strategic Pillars
Our four core pillars remain the foundation of our work:
Membership Services – strengthening engagement and ensuring members’ voices are heard
Advice & Support – providing expert guidance on compliance, funding, and operations
Policy, Research & Campaigns – advocating for the sector and influencing meaningful change
Training – delivering high-quality training by the sector, for the sector
Aligning with Our Manifesto
What’s exciting about this refreshed strategy is how closely it now aligns with the five priorities set out in our 2024 General Election manifesto. These areas will shape our work and our advocacy over the next five years:
Modernising the sector – supporting innovation in operations, delivery, and design
Improving access to health and social care – breaking down transport barriers to essential services
Investing in community solutions – empowering locally-led transport responses
Accelerating community-led climate action – leading by example in sustainable travel
Delivering a fair deal for volunteers – recognising and supporting the sector’s lifeblood
Continuity, Commitment, and Collaboration
This is a strategy rooted in continuity and growth. The pillars remain because they work — but we’re sharpening our focus and deepening our commitment, particularly around member-driven priorities.
We’re building on our strengths while staying open to new opportunities, so that together we can create a more inclusive, sustainable, and responsive transport system.
I encourage you to explore our full Strategic Direction and consider how your organisation can work with us to shape the next five years of community transport. Your voice matters. Your contribution counts. And we’re proud to work alongside you.
