Celebrating safe, legal and comfortable journeys: MiDAS & CTWeek
What is Community Transport Week?
Every year, Community Transport Week allows us to pause for a moment and celebrate the sector, and everyone involved in it! This year’s theme,“More than a Minibus,” captures something vital: community transport is about people as much as it is about vehicles. It isn’t just about getting from A to B, it’s all the in-between moments that make the journey special, and memorable for passengers. For that to happen, journeys must be safe, legal and comfortable. That’s where MiDAS comes in.
Why MiDAS should be a focus of CT Week?
As the nationally recognised standard for assessing and training drivers, MiDAS helps to ensure that drivers have the skills and knowledge they need to put passengers at the centre of every journey. When undertaking MiDAS, drivers complete interactive and engaging E-Learning, covering the legal responsibilities of driving and the essential theoretical knowledge needed to provide safe, legal and comfortable journeys. They then attend a driving assessment where they can put that theory into practice and be supported by one of our hundreds of skilled Driver Assessors working across the UK. We want to acknowledge all the hard work and dedication that our Assessors, put in to maintaining the MiDAS Standard, helping to share their passion and expertise with drivers and to promote the highest standards of safety. This is a key part of enabling the vital community transport journeys which take place every day. Their expertise, encouragement, and professionalism make a real difference to drivers’ confidence and skills. Here’s what some drivers have said:
"The Assessor was very warm and friendly throughout, making a number of good and relevant points to help me to improve my driving style."
"The DA was friendly, helpful, instructive and put me at ease throughout the assessment."
"I was slightly nervous to drive the vehicle at first but the instruction was very supportive."
"The Assessor was very clear and communicative. Their wealth of expertise and knowledge was very apparent."
"I felt that the course exceeded my expectations and it was delivered at the correct level for all participants regardless of prior learning and experiences."
