Community Transport Week 2026: Celebrations across the sector so far
Community Transport Week 2026 is well underway, and it's been fantastic to see organisations across the UK getting involved and sharing their celebrations.
This year's theme, Driving Communities Forward, celebrates the people, organisations and partnerships that make Community Transport possible.
From behind-the-scenes videos and volunteer celebrations to sharing stories that demonstrate the difference Community Transport makes every day, organisations have been finding their own ways to mark the occasion.
We've been taking a look at what's been happening across the sector so far this week, and here are just some of the highlights.
Community 1st – Behind the Scenes of Community Transport
Community 1st has been giving people a behind-the-scenes look at the team responsible for keeping its Community Transport services running across Hertfordshire.
Through a video shared on social media, the organisation has highlighted the important role its services play in helping people stay connected and maintain their independence. From shopping trips and days out to transport for essential appointments, the video showcases the variety of ways Community Transport supports local communities.

The Bridewell in Magherafelt, Burnavon Theatre in Cookstown and Hill of The O'Neill & Ranfurly House in Dungannon have all been included in the initiative, helping to raise awareness of the invaluable role Community Transport plays in keeping people connected, independent and active within their communities.
Green Community Travel – A fundraising quiz to kick off the week
Green Community Travel started Community Transport Week with a fundraising quiz night that brought supporters together for an evening of fun, laughter and a little friendly competition.
Thanks to the generosity of everyone who attended, donated raffle prizes and helped organise the event, an impressive £1,108 was raised, bringing the organisation's bus replacement fund to £2,899.81.
A brilliant example of the community coming together to support a service that makes a real difference to local people.
In addition, they have been sharing lots of lovely passenger stories on social media which really capture the impact of community transport has on its local community.

With regular e-bikes and cargo bikes available, the initiative gives individuals and families the chance to try a more sustainable way of travelling and enjoy the outdoors.
