MiDAS Model Casting Call

We are looking for two wheelchair users to participate in the recording of MiDAS (Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme) Accessible Technical Videos.

We are seeking one male and one female participant, age range between 18-59, who use either a powered or manual wheelchair .

The videos are designed to train minibus drivers and passenger assistants on how to safely support wheelchair users during travel. This includes using ramps, lifts, and wheelchair tie-down equipment. We aim to ensure that wheelchair passengers are accurately and authentically represented in this training resource.

As these videos will be used for training purposes, it is important any wheelchair used is crash-tested (complies with ISO7176) and capable of being secured using standard ISO1042 W.T.O.R.S. equipment (i.e. designated anchorage points & weighing less than 85kg unoccupied). Any post-market adaptations to the wheelchair (e.g. postural aids) should also be disclosed.

Filming will take place on the 9th and 10th January 2025. The recording will take place over two days, day one start time approximately 11am and day two start time approximately 10am but we can work with you on this, we expect the filming length each day to be approximately 7hrs, but there is an area to relax and unwind between takes.

The filming will take place at a film studio in Newcastle Upon Tyne, city centre area which is fully accessible.

Your participation is crucial in helping create realistic, inclusive training videos that reflect the true experience of wheelchair users who rely on accessible minibuses, wheelchair accessible vans (WAVs), and taxis for travel. We want to ensure that the training materials reflect the needs and experiences of actual wheelchair users to promote safety and accessibility for all.

We are pleased to offer a fee of £150 per person, per day, which includes any expenses incurred (with the exception of a Personal Assistant which we are happy to discuss an arrangement to contribute to / cover costs).
