Celebrating New Beginnings with Stockport Community Transport

Last week, I had the pleasure of visiting Stockport Community Transport to celebrate an exciting milestone – the arrival of their brand-new minibus, generously funded by Motability. This new addition is more than just a vehicle; it represents enhanced mobility and independence for many in the community. With this purpose-built minibus, equipped with a tail lift, Stockport Community Transport can further extend their impressive services.

Sue and her team at Stockport Car Scheme have worked tirelessly to foster a warm and welcoming community. The atmosphere was alive with excitement and gratitude as members gathered to admire the new minibus. Its state-of-the-art accessibility features promise to make a significant difference for those who rely on community transport for their daily needs.

During the event, I had the privilege of speaking with staff and volunteer drivers about their experiences. We heard heartfelt stories from the team, the Chairperson, and local MP Navendu Mishra, who all shared how community transport has become a lifeline. It enables members to attend medical appointments, social events, and more. The event truly showcased community transport at its finest. With the new minibus, these opportunities will only grow, ensuring that everyone, regardless of mobility challenges, can remain connected and active within the Stockport community.

A special thanks goes to Motability for their generous funding and to the dedicated volunteers and staff of Stockport Community Transport for their unwavering commitment to serving the community. Here’s to many more journeys and adventures ahead!
