Picture 1Swan’s dedicated team of volunteer drivers have been rewarded for all the great work they do for their local community at the annual Chairman’s Community Awards held this spring 2016/17.

The award ceremony took place at the Guildhall in Bath and not only did our hard working team of drivers win the ‘Volunteer Team of the Year Award’, but our longest serving driver Barbara Merrett also won the ‘Peter Duppa Miller Lifetime Achievement Award’. Barbara has been driving for Swan Transport since its inception in 2001 and has only recently retired after 40 years of volunteer driving in her local community.

Barbara received a beautiful Bath Aqua glass engraved bowl, which was presented to her by Councillor Alan Hale from Bath and North East Somerset Council. A number of our drivers also went forward to receive their well-deserved award – an engraved paperweight which was also made by Bath Aqua glass. Congratulations to all our very special drivers. They are truly ‘Stars in their Cars’!

Swan’s dedicated team of drivers support those within the B&NES area who are older, frail or disabled and on a low income, by taking them health appointments or social activities. We receive lots of positive comments about our drivers, including how our passengers really appreciate being able to get out and about, especially if they find it difficult to use the bus.Picture 21

Swan are very proud of our drivers and grateful to everyone who was involved with organising the Awards, as we had a lovely evening with lots of refreshments laid on for all the many groups and individuals who attended. The Awards have raised our profile and attracted new volunteers wanting to join our Award Winning Team.
