More than 50% of our ‘primary purpose’ members in Wales helped us with our research, giving a really important snapshot of the Welsh Community Transport sector. On a very rare hot day I drove across the Welsh mountains to visit one of our smallest operators in the town of Pwllheli, on the Llyn Peninsula in North Wales.
I was going to see Marel Roberts who is one of the founders of Cymrod Clwb Teithio Dwyfor. Cymrod stands for ‘Caring for your Mobility, Rights and Opportunities in Dwyfor’. It was part of a larger group formed 30 years ago across Gwynedd and Anglesey, but Cymrod is the only one in existence today with a dedicated committee of seven people to oversee the club.

The Community Transport Association (CTA) is leading a movement to enhance the role of women in the community transport sector. Through the launch of the Women in Community Transport UK Network, CTA will be aiming to address the challenges women face in our vital industry, while promoting their invaluable contributions and driving initiatives to improve recruitment, retention, and empowerment.
This requirement applies to the use of any passenger vehicle, including cars, MPVs, and minibuses.
Not-for-profit community transport operators can access S19, S22 or S10B permits which enable you to legally operate your passenger service without having to apply for a commercial PSV Operators licence.
With community-led groups and organisations delivering transport and wider support services to rural, urban, and island communities across England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales, we are constantly evaluating and developing creative ways to connect.
