Chief Executive
We’re pleased to announce the dates and locations for 2018’s Roadshow in England – a series of events which aim to inform, involve and inspire our members through practical and engaging workshops and discussions on running your transport.
This year’s Roadshow events are taking place in:
Manchester 2nd October
Cambridge 4th October
Birmingham 8th October
Exeter 9th October
These events are free for people from CTA member organisations, but you and your team will still need to book in advance online if you want to attend. You can book online by clicking here.
As with the last two years, we’re pleased that this year’s Roadshow is being run again in association with KPMG and we’re very grateful for their continued support. We’re also grateful for the support of Devon County Council for hosting the event in Exeter.
What to expect
Following feedback from our 2017 membership survey we’ll be running more topics than ever with the chance to choose the sessions that suit your needs the most. We’ll also make sure each event programme has a local flavour.
Common to all sessions will be the opportunity to:
- Learn about and be inspired by the work of others.
- Share your ideas and successes.
- Discuss any challenges you have and explore what works best in solving them.
Alongside the planned sessions, we will keep some time aside in case there are any developments in the Department for Transport’s consultation on the use of section 19/22 permits.
More information on the sessions available to members will be published shortly, and in the meantime, you can book your place by heading to ctauk.org/events.
Please note that details of events aimed at members in Scotland and Wales will be shared in due course. Members in Northern Ireland should save the date of 8 November for the CTA Northern Ireland Conference with more information to follow.

Catherine Lymer
What exactly does this cover? We are a students union who own 3 minibuses and would like to learn about managing a fleet of vehicles and the laws around it

replying to Catherine LymerHi Catherine. We’ve recently published outlines of the event sessions which you can find here: https://ctauk.org/cta-roadshow-2018-sessions/. There’s more information on the blog, but two of our sessions look at vehicle maintenance and planning for the unexpected which might be of interest. Best wishes, Tom.
