We’re excited to announce the categories for this year’s Community Transport Awards! The awards are taking place as part of CT’19, our two day event this November, which aims to bring together CTA members and friends to network, learn and celebrate the amazing work of our sector.
The awards will take place at the end of the first day of CT ’19 and will be a great evening with a drinks reception, three course dinner and entertainment. With awards ranging from Community Transport Provider of the Year, to a Lifetime Achievement Award, there are plenty of opportunities to celebrate organisations and individuals doing amazing work across the UK!
The awards are open to any organisation that provides accessible and inclusive transport and fit the criteria for each award. We’ll be providing more information about each category, including eligibility criteria and what our judges will be on the look out for, when we open nominations in the next few weeks. In the meantime, have a think about which categories you could nominate yourself or others for!

Community Transport Provider of the Year
Sponsored by Q’Straint
This category recognises a community transport provider who, in the view of our judges, has demonstrated excellence in providing accessible and inclusive transport to their communities over the last year. This means having a positive impact on the local community, developing their services and offering example of best practice to the sector.
Volunteer of the Year
This category recognises an exceptional volunteer who has gone above and beyond for their passengers, someone who has formed great relationships, is widely valued and whose actions are a positive reflection of their organisation. This could be anyone who volunteers, from drivers to admin staff or trustees.
Community Transport Champion
This category recognises a public figure who has championed the work of the community transport sector. This could be a politician, a local community leader or business person; anyone who has supported and raised the profile of community transport either locally or nationally.
MiDAS Driver of the Year
This category recognises a MiDAS trained driver who has exceptional relationships with their passengers and a track record of excellence. Entries are invited from organisations or passengers wishing to nominate a driver.
Doing things Differently
This category recognises an organisation that is using community transport to do something different, undertaking a service that isn’t usually provided by community transport or serving people who wouldn’t usually be passengers.
Serving Rural Communities
This category recognises an organisation who is doing excellent work in rural areas poorly served by traditional transport provision and who enables people living in rural communities to access services they may otherwise be denied.
Volunteer Car Scheme of the Year
This category recognises a volunteer car scheme that has an exceptional impact on their community and that effectively recruits, retains and supports their volunteers.
Partnership of the Year
This category recognises organisations who are working in partnership on an innovative project or service to benefit their community.
Photo Competition
This award is for a photograph that captures the essence of community transport, focusing on the people and the communities that our sector supports.
Lifetime Achievement Award
The lifetime achievement award recognises an individual who has had a deep and active involvement within the community transport sector over a number of years.
