Hull & East Yorkshire partners come together to shape the future of community transport

Community Transport Association (CTA) was pleased to support and chair the Hull & East Yorkshire Community Transport Roundtable, bringing together community transport providers, NHS colleagues, local authorities, and representatives from the Hull & East Yorkshire Combined Authority (HEYCA) to discuss the future role of community transport across the region.
The roundtable highlighted the growing recognition of community transport as an essential part of both the local transport network and the wider health system. Representatives from HEYCA shared their future transport priorities and explored opportunities to strengthen engagement with community transport providers, while NHS colleagues emphasised the vital role transport plays in supporting emerging Neighbourhood Health models and improving access to healthcare services.
Discussions also focused on digital infrastructure, workforce sustainability, volunteering, and driver recruitment, alongside the importance of partnership working to address shared challenges across the sector. Throughout the session, a clear theme emerged: the need to protect the trusted, person-centred services that community transport provides while embracing opportunities for innovation, collaboration, and future growth.
The event concluded with a shared commitment to strengthen partnerships, improve coordination, and ensure community transport continues to play a central role in future health and transport planning across Hull and East Yorkshire.
