Highly skilled and professional volunteers are the lifeblood of the Community Transport sector. Many drivers, passenger assistants, coordinators, and managers give their time to support their communities and work seamlessly alongside paid staff to ensure people can make the journeys they need and want to make, and across the UK volunteer Trustees and Non-Executive Directors provide strategic oversight and direction to ensure our network of Community Transport organisations are run safely and legally.
It is more important than ever to think ahead when it comes to securing grant income. Due to the significant demand for grants, it can take funders longer to make a decision as they are receiving large volumes of applications. Smaller grants can take four to six months for a decision, while larger grants with a two-stage application process can take up to 12 months.

Since stepping into the role of CEO at the Community Transport Association (CTA) two years ago, I’ve learned the importance of modernising our approach to better support our members and the wider community transport sector.
